1. my first breakfast in the Halls canteen! congee with pickled eggs and soya noodles. it was a bit heavier than I expected, maybe I shouldn't have had it for my first breakfast.
2. lunch in another hall canteen! bbq pork and duck on rice with chinese cabbage. I would have preferred it if it weren't pork AND duck but it was delicious anyway. The portions here are gigantic, I can never finish them. And the chinese metabolism is so different from the european one.. I still have to find my balance to stay healthy here. all this food is delicious but I can't eat it twice a day every day. must start cooking.
3. On the 2nd day of orientation, HKBU (the school) took all 177 new exchange students out to lunch! at the 'Jumbo Floating Restaurant' in Aberdeen, on southern Hong Kong island. it was typical dim sum for lunch, delicious.
4. shrimp and pork dumpling! i really don't get this mixing pork with other things..
5. coconut milk dessert. delicious and wobbly.

So I have satisfied my primal desire for chinese food.. I was expecting it to be much more different from the chinese food that we eat in europe, but it's quite similar. Although this is all quite tame food, I still have to explore street food ... I think I will stop eating in the student canteen and get out more..
